State govt denies harassing ADC candidate
Thousands of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Kogi State trooped out, yesterday, to demonstrate their loyalty to their candidate, Usman Ododo.
Excitedly, they successful held the one-million-man road walk at Ajaka, Igala Mela/Odolu Local Council, the home of Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Muritala Ajaka.
Leading the walk, where hundreds of indigenes from the wards and local council declared their support for the Ododo/Oyibo ticket, were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Habiba Jatto; Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Dr. Salisu Usman and Igala Mela/Odolu council Chairman, OnojaOmachonu, among other notable leaders.
While addressing the excited APC supporters, the council chairman, who doubles as Convener, IG/OF Critical Stakeholders.
emphasised: “The only sellable candidate among several others jostling for the governorship seat of Kogi is Ododo.”
MEANWHILE, the state government has denied alleged harassment of African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, Mr. LekeAbejide. Governor Yahaya Bello’s Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, stated this, yesterday, in Lokoja.
Fanwo claimed that Abejide was not in the governorship race for real, but one of those just making up the numbers in the line-up of governorship candidates.
He said: “Abejide’s campaign has been based on spurious and senseless allegations. What Kogi residents want to hear is a clear plan on how to consolidate on the great achievements of the incumbent governor. But, expectedly, he has continued to miss the chance to impress the people.
“Ododo emerged based on his pedigree and readiness to take the state forward. He was in government for seven years and has a proper grasp of what needs to be done to consolidate on the widely acclaimed achievements of the present administration.”
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ADC candidate had approach a High Court seeking cover from security operatives in Kogi, following alleged insecurity and harassment in his electioneering for the November 11 governorship election. Abejide claims that the harassment was Bello’s strategy to instalOdodo as the next governor.
