The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed that seven people lost their lives when the bus they were traveling in somersaulted at Okura in Ankpa Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.

The  Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Samuel Oyedeji, had earlier confirmed three persons dead but the state Police Public Relations Officer SP William Aya in a  response on Saturday said seven people lost their lives.

“It was a lone motor accident along Ankpa/Okura/Egume/Ayingba road that involved a Toyota Hiace Bus.

“The accident occurred at Okura, where the bus somersaulted into the bush, the driver and six other passengers lost their lives,” he said.

Although he could not confirm the identities of the victims, sources, however, said they were members of the Social Democratic Party, who were on their way to Ayingba for a stakeholders’ meeting.

Contacted, the spokesman for the SDP, Faruk Adejo-Audu, said he was not aware of the accident but promised to find out and revert.

However, he had yet to do so as of 6he time of filing this report.
