Fernando Santos has been fired from his duty as the Poland National Team’s Head Coach after a poor start, just six games into his reign.

The manager played six games but was only able to win three games and lost three games. Two of his wins were at the UEFA EURO 2024 Qualifier and one in an International Friendly. His three losses were all in the UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifier. The 68-year-old manager left Poland in 4th place in their UEFA EURO 2024 Qualification Group.

Fernando Santos previously managed his home country Portugal and won the Euro 2016 and also the Inaugural Nations League in 2018/19. Poland’s next game comes up in October against the Faroe Islands. The Polish Football Association (PZPN) appreciates Fernando Santos for his contributions to the Polish National team.

As things stand, Poland would play the playoffs because of their Nations League standing. Poland captain and all-time leading goal scorer Robert Lewandowski started all six games under Fernando Santos and scored three goals, stretching his international goal tally to 81. What the future holds for Fernando Santos is now clear yet but the hopes are high to see what happens next to the 68-year-old manager.
